What material is suitable for battery tab?
Battery tabs' materials commonly including nickel plated steel (NPS), nickel plated stainless steel (NPSS) and pure nickel (Ni200).
For the reason of nickel plated steel (NPS) is the most suitable for weld and the reasonable prices, most of the battery manufacturers use nickel plated steel (NPS) to produce the battery tab. Pure Nickel (Ni200) is often used for mobile phone’s battery tabs, because of pure nickel (Ni200) has the characteristics of low resistance, easy to weld and high anticorrosive. But pure nickel (Ni200) prices is too high, to reduce battery manufacturers production cost, nickel plated stainless steel (NPSS) is the substitute for pure nickel (Ni200).
